Find free or low-cost immigration legal help
Choose your state. We list nonprofits approved by the U.S. government and lawyers who help for free.
This website is free. It does not collect your name or track you.
Protect yourself from scams
Only a lawyer or an accredited representative from an approved nonprofit can give you immigration legal advice. A "notario," notary, or immigration consultant cannot. Never sign a form you do not understand, and always ask for a receipt.
Free or low cost Nonprofit approved by the U.S. Department of Justice. Fees, if any, are usually small. Ask when you call.

No place can promise you are safe there
Since January 2025, immigration agents are no longer told to stay away from hospitals, schools, places of worship or shelters. The places below help people of any status, but none of them can promise that agents will not come. Know your rights before you go.

More ways to get help
Before you call
- Have your papers ready: any letters from immigration (USCIS, ICE or the court), your passport or ID, and your A-number if you have one.
- Ask: "Is the first meeting free? What will it cost?" and "Do you speak my language, or can you get an interpreter?"
- Offices are busy. If no one answers, leave a message with your name and phone number, and call others on the list too.
- If you have a court date, do not miss it. Call the court's free line, 1-800-898-7180, to check your case.
